Joseph Singer (bishop)
Joseph Henderson Singer (1786–1866) was an Irish Anglican bishop in the Church of Ireland in the 19th century.〔“A New History of Ireland”, Moody, T.M; Martin, F.X; Byrne, F.J; Cosgrove, F: Oxford Oxford University Press, 1976, ISBN 0-19-821745-5〕
He was the son of James Singer the Deputy Commissary-General of the Forces in Ireland. He became a Fellow of Trinity College, Dublin in 1810 and was subsequently its Regius Professor of Divinity.〔The Times, Thursday, Jul 19, 1866; pg. 12; Issue 25554; col F ''Ireland. He was a leading member of the Evangelical body of the Irish Church and a strong opponent to the National Board of Education.
In 1822 he married Mary, daughter of Revd. Henry Crofton, DD, and left four sons and three daughters.〔The Gentleman's Magazine, and Historical Chronicle, for the Year 1866 (Sept) …, Volume 221, p 405〕
